Meadville Cooperative Preschool is a nonprofit, independent, play-based preschool. It was founded in 1961 and is administered by the parents of the enrolled children. MCP is licensed by the PA Department of Human Services and accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). MCP is proud to be one of the only accredited preschools in Meadville, along with a STAR 4 rating given by Keystone STARS.

Class size is limited to 10-15 children (depending on the room) guided by a certified lead teacher and an experienced assistant teacher. Both teachers are trained to promote the best development of each child.

Children learn by doing.  Our program gives each child lots of time to explore, create and challenge themselves. We help children learn about themselves and their world to give them a strong basis for their educational career.

What Parents Are Saying

“This preschool has been wonderful for my kids. Both kids learned crucial social skills and academic skills, through play, while attending. The teachers are wonderful and will help in every way they can. My oldest is excelling in elementary school and I know MCP played a role in that.

As an educator myself, I can’t speak highly enough of MCP. They are NAEYC accredited a which means their staff meets a higher list of standards compared to most preschools in our area. Staff are constantly receiving professional development to strengthen their skills.

Thank you MCP for being a great starting point for my two kiddos!”

“Going to preschool felt like our first “big kid” decision for our son. We had a tough time settling into daycare, so I was nervous about what this transition would look like. Both of our fears were instantly erased after the first 5 minutes on his first day at MCP. He has LOVED going to school every week since.

I can’t tell you how amazing it feels to know my kid is happy, safe, and thriving in his school environment and that he loves his teachers and classmates so much. So many neighbors recommended MCP, and I am so glad we listened.”

I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate the quality of your program. Throughout the years I have visited many childcare facilities, your program stands out among the best. Developmentally appropriate, creative and caring are a few of the words that come to mind. If I ran the world, I would utilize many of the characteristics within your program as a sample of how preschool programs should be implemented. Since that isn’t so, I will find solace in knowing that Meadville Cooperative Preschool provides an enriching environment for our young citizens to grow and enjoy. It’s on to a new chapter for me, one I am excited to start. Thank you for you service and comradery throughout the years. I always looked forward to spending time at MCP.

Sincerely,

“We wanted to take a moment and send a personal thank you note for the care and learning you have provided Konnor this year.  He truly loved being there with all of you and we are blessed to be able to give him this start.  The thing that we felt about the way your organization is ran is that your staff truly cares about children and each other and you make a great team.  That is rare and something to be honored and valued.  We look forward to the same thing for our Kaelynn.”
